For the third straight year in a row, US winemakers say their fastest growing segment is riesling, the white grape traditionally from Germany used to make everything from light summer sippers perfect for outdoor dinner parties and barbecues to after-dinner dessert wines.
Winemakers in Oregon, California, Washington, and even New York are turning out award winning wines that rival the Old Country. It's light but complex and makes a great complement to many summertime foods.
Here are three of the best American producers and wines to look out for:
Brooks Ara Riesling, 2006 (Oregon)($25)
Dashe Dry Riesling, McFadden Farms 2007 (California)($20)
Lamoreaux Dry Riesling, 2007 (NY)($13)
